alcudia

Alcudia has an extension of 60,51 sq. kms. With more than 30 kms Coast line and is situated to the north-east of Mallorca. It is formed by the peninsula of Cap del Pinar, which separates the bays of Alcudia and Pollença, and by the interior area which borders with Pollença to the north and with La Pobla and Muro to the south. In general, the climate of Alcudia does not differ from the rest of Mallorca, although it does have its own characteristics in relation to its situation and position. It has the temperate, subtropical climate of the Mediterranean, is protected from the winds and favoured by the sea, with a mild winter and a dry summer. Privileged by its climate and attractions, Alcudia is an ideal place for your holiday at any time of the year.
Alcudia is one of the island's centres which is most appreciated by visitors. Added to the beauty of the country surrounding's and the artistic treasure of its monuments, there is an important hotel industry and facilities which are in permanent evolution.
The coast line along the two bays is ideal for sailing schools, windsurfing and also diving, water skiing, fishing, etc. There are numerous walking and riding excursions and the Council has produced a brochure with full information on their programme.
Places of Interest in Alcudia
Roman Wall
About two hundred metres from the parish church, the old wall surrounding the Roman town of Pollèntia is exposed. They are the remains dating from the time of its foundation, i.e. more than twenty centuries ago. They testify to the importance Pollèntia had.
Roman Theatre
Constructed outside the Roman city in the first century AD, it is situated southwards near the road leading to the port and has the beautiful landscape of the Bay of Alcudia in the background.

L'Albufera
The environmentally protected marshlands of the Albufera situated in the Bay of Alcudia, cover a surface area of 1700 hectares. They are the Balearic's first Nature Reserve, created in 1988. Ornithology enthusiasts and other curious visitors can observe close to 230 species of the coastal reserve all year around.
