There are over 200 banks offering mortgages in Spain.

With so many potential lenders, it can be difficult if not impossible for foreigners to find the best deals on the market.

Spanish Living recommends using a mortgage broker who can shop around for you to find the best mortgage deal. Many specialise in difficult to get mortgages, have relationships in place with many banks and more importantly, can speak the language and negotiate any potential barriers or obstacles.

Finally, it seems as if the banks are starting to loosed the purse strings. It is now possible again for non-residents to acquire up to 90% mortgages and if you are a resident in Spain, some banks are even offering up to 100% finance.
