Zona Azul (Blue areas) are also common and you can purchase tickets from hotels, travel agents, town halls or the ticket machines located along the sides of the road. A useful thing to remember is that if your car is unlucky enough to recieve a ticket in one of the blue zones go to one of the machines and take out one of the small brown envelopes. Pop in 3 euros (or whatever amount it says on the machine) along with your ticket and post it back into the machine at the top. This will nullify the ticket and avoid any heavy fines.
Parking your car is not allowed within 5 metres of intersections or entrances to public buildings.
